Information

Don't know how to format this so I'll briefly describe what this is and some Q&A formatted info will follow.

Harolds Maze is a cereal mascot horror game developed in Unreal Engine 4.22 from September 2018 to May 2019.

It was originally to be released and sold in 2019 under an LLC separate from my personal game development account. All references to this LLC in the credits have been removed and replaced.

This game began as simple mascot horror parodying off brand cereal mascots that over time twisted into a desperate attempt to make a game that could sell and potentially find success.

When I had finished the game and did a final run though it was clear that in my haste to have a completed game I was left with a miserable mess not worth anyones time or even their money.
I decided that it wasn't salvageable and any further time spent would only cause more grief and wasted effort.

Why release this now? -

I have decided to release it now due to some personal circumstances that I don't want to fully get into at the moment.

Is this related to modern indie mascot horror in anyway? -
No, this game was made in 2019 and it's release is only related to personal reasons relating to my life.

Is this an ARG? -
No.

Is their a meta-narrative to this? -

No, this was a genuine awful game I had made.

Was anyone else involved in the development? -
No, this is completely solo developed and hadn't even been sent to other to playtest.

If the game had been sold, how much would it have cost? -

It would have been 3$.

Why bother dressing up the game page (theme/screenshots) for something like this? -
This was copied over from the original draft store page on another account.

Will this game be continued/finished/updated/remade? -

No plans to right now.

Are there any development images? -
There is a twitter thread with some more development information. https://twitter.com/Tesseron_/status/1570879119617044481?s=20
It also includes development images from other projects I had been working on at the time.
